Hi, My name is Marie Gage and I offer birth and postpartum doula services to families in the Greater Seattle area. I have had quite a bit of birth experience of my own, having given birth to eight children myself. Three of these were c/sections and 5 normal, natural births. So, I have experienced both surgical birth and natural birth. This has given me unique perspective and empathy for women on both ends of the spectrum.a
My work as a doula began 12 years ago when I was preparing to apply to Seattle Midwifery School. I took the  doula training course because it was a pre-requisite for entering the midwifery education program there. It turned out that midwifery school needed to be put on hold, but I discovered the wonderful work of labor and birth support. I have attended many women in birth since then, and it never ceases to be an incredibly beautiful and satisfying work for me. If I had been able to have the support of a doula I know my own first 3 babies would likely not have been born by cesarean. My passion is to help birthing women to have what I did not: Labor support that respects the power and dignity of woman, education that empowers her, and a birth that is safe for her and her baby.
