My Philosophy~As a result of my training, experience, and background I have faith in birth as a normal, healthy, physiological process that women and babies were designed for. Birth works, and it works best when the woman giving birth feels safe and confident. As your doula I can help with that.
As your doula I Help By:
Educating~Directing you to the most recent research-based information on labor and birth, including current hospital practices and interventions, so you can make informed decisions about your birth and your baby's care.
Encouraging~As a woman who has been there before you, I believe in the normalcy and miracle of birth. My presence, the encouragement of a woman who knows this is something you can do, as well as the physical support I give and the strength I help you discover within yourself, will add courage and strength when you need it most.
Empowering~My highest hope is that the women I support in birth will begin to understand how strong they really are. That they will trust their bodies, that they will own their decisions about their births and their babies because they have the right to, and that each new mother will come away from her experience feeling honored and respected.
By giving a birthing woman the knowledge she needs, supporting each one in her decisions, and advocating for her during labor and birth she is empowered in so many ways. The confidence gained from a positive birth and postpartum experience extends into every area of her life and future decision-making, especially those which concern her children.
